SCiPS

Background
The Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) successfully co-ordinated the implementation of 24 SCIps partnerships projects across Australia with a website as the primary access point for all project information, grant applications, online resources, tools and communication facilities.

ASTA asked Datalink to create a new website that would be an online resource for SCIps partnership project grant recipients to manage their partnership projects. 

Solution
Datalink's solution was aimed at providing maximum online project collaboration.
The unique design features of the SCIps Project website and the in-house content management system Freestyler enabled ASTA to keep the site dynamic and to provide the most up-to-date information about SCIps to the general visitor and personalised information to individual SCIps project teams.

The vibrant site design conveys the excitement and showcases the benefits of participating in the SCIps project.

Datalink designed a unique online identity for the SCIps program, from logo design through to domain name and colour scheme.

Datalink created an advanced user groups model allows member login roles and permissions to be applied.  Combined with a registration, approval and invitation system, this model allows different users to log in to the site and take on different roles for each project that they participate in.

Datalink built an integrated user login statistics system to provide project leaders and administrators with invaluable participation information.

With interactive features, such as dynamic project calendars, discussion forums and real-time chat templates the website allows users to effectively communicate ideas to others within their groups. 

The ability to easily create online forms and surveys provides ASTA with a site feedback mechanism.

To meet DEST requirements, the site complies with Commonwealth metadata (AGLS 1.2) and accessibility standards (W3C) for the web.
