Wyndham Youth
Background
Wyndham City Council represents a major metropolitan growth corridor between Melbourne and Geelong, which includes Werribee and Point Cook - one of the fastest growing municipalities in Victoria for young families.
The council selected Datalink to re-design and re-develop their youth website to allow it to be content managed and share selected content with the corporate website and re-brand it to give it specific appeal to young residents.
Solution
Following a consultation process, Datalink re-designed the Wyndham Youth website, giving it a new visual identity that instilled continuity and consistency through the use of styles and templates.
Freestyler content management provides a framework for sharing content with the corporate website and keeping the navigation and content accessible.
The site includes interactive features, such as the ability for users of the site to select a colour scheme or "skin" to customise it to their own tastes.
The site features templates that allow multimedia content such as games, MP3 files and video to be integrated into the website by non-technical council editors.The site, launched in 2005 when the ideas of Web 2.0 were still in their infancy and the community driven features ensured its success. It attracts an ever growing audience, in 2007 there were an average of over 130 unique visits per day and a high number of repeat visitors is up there with many council corporate websites.
