Wyndham City Council Website
Background
Wyndham City Council represents a major metropolitan growth corridor of over 100,000 people between Melbourne and Geelong, which includes Werribee and Point Cook - one of the fastest growing municipalities in Victoria.
The council selected Datalink to re-design and re-develop their corporate website with the aim of bringing it up to date.
Solution
Following a consultation process, Datalink re-designed the Wyndham website, giving it a new visual identity that instils continuity and consistency through the use of styles and templates.
Freestyler content management provides a framework for a distributed model of website authoring, by enabling non-technical staff to contribute updates which are approved before being activated.
A key aim of the site design was to make it compliant with W3C Accessibility initiatives for the web. Several key navigation enhancements, such as an integrated search feature, sitemap and A-Z Index make it easy to find information within the site.
A membership system allows residents to profile themselves to get an individual experience of the site content.
An innovative syndication engine draws content from internal Lotus Notes databases, such as the community directory, as well as external sources such as Business Entry Point. The site even syndicates information out to the council's youth site.
The site also features RSS technology, allowing media releases to be syndicated.
A site-wide online form system allows council staff to receive feedback from users of the site.
