Background

The Australian Cinematographers Society is a national organisation representing over 1,000 cinematographers Australia-wide.

The society's membership management previously consisted of a number of data sources, including Excel spreadsheets and Access databases, which they required a solution to make available from one central national membership management resource.

Solution

Datalink worked with the society to plan a new public web presence, cinematographer.org.au, with a focus on providing management of content and web-enabling their member database for interactive features. 

Datalink provided the Freestyler Professional framework to allow members to log in to the website for member only content.

Using Datalink's MemberDRIVE solution, a web enabled membership database means that members are able to easily view and update their member details online.

Distributed administrators can access a national database remotely, with branch managers able to log in to get a filtered view of their membership base. 

Special templates were constructed to allow award winners to be added to the website, to provide dynamic lists of accredited members and to showcase the Society's primary publication AustCine.

An interactive state map navigates directly to a homepage for each branch, featuring news and events.

Web administrator Craig Pickersgill says, "Freestyler allows us to keep the website fresh with up-to-date news and content. Our new database gives us a central point on the web for our branches to manage our member information Australia-wide. Our website traffic and enquires have at least doubled , and the search and metadata ability has given us many more hits from Search Engines like Google."
