Australian Science Teachers' Association
Thank you Datalink for your work on the ASTA and SCIps websites. Your design service has been great and improved our online identity. Freestyler is easy to use and works well on our Apple Macs and your training and maintenance services have been most helpful in assisting us to self-manage our sites.
Australian Science Teachers Association
Background
The Australian Science Teachers Associationk, based in Canberra is the umbrella organisation for several state based Science Teachers Associations in Australia. ASTA helps coordinate CONASTA, the national conference and National Science Week.
Datalink has been working with ASTA since 2003, following our work on the Science Teachers Association of Victoria website.
The latest website was released in 2007 and had the aim of reorganising a growing amount of online information.
Solution
ASTA's brief to Datalink was to make the website a gateway to the branches, a place for information on projects and teaching resources as well as to provide scope for an increasing exposure in the areas media and employment.
The website was redesigned to incorporate a Seek job search feature, announcements and a "What's New" section. A dynamic main menu provides single click access deep into the site. A press release and news archive and interactive events calendar help ASTA to better manage news and events. The design is flexible enough for conference and campaign banners to appear prominently.
There is a Councillor login/extranet area where the committees can share ideas, files and information securely and includes a website discussion forum.
All of this information can be managed via a content management system in Datalink's Freestyler CMS.
