e-Newsletter gets the message across for Knowles

26 October 2007 - By Sean Fishlock

Knowles Australia, a Datalink client of 3 years is using an e-newsletter as a key integration strategy with parent company Hill International, a global consulting firm.

Hill International acquired Knowles last year.  Previously Knowles ran an email newsletter marketing service known as Knowles Edge, which has a slightly different look to the Knowles Australia website.  As part of the business integration, the Australian office was recently re-branded as "Hill Informed".

Hill International asked us to re-design the e-newsletter to be inkeeping with the new visual identity and the results are below.

Previously their system had manual subscription and unsubscription, but the new system, developed by Datalink, now features online subscription and unsubscription.  New subscribers have to confirm their subscriptions by clicking on a link in the email.  Over 6,000 subscribers were imported into the new e-newsletter system.

The entire system is powered by templates and features of Datalink's Freestyler 5.0 content management system.  Through Freestyler, Knowles simply add articles to the newsletter.

When they are ready to send, they can use Freestyler's inbuilt email system.  It enables them to preview the email, save their settings for later.  They can customise the subject line and who it appears to come from.  Using the mail merge functionality, they can write a custom note or message from the CEO which is personalised to each subscriber.

The system sends the email in multi-part, so it can be viewed as full graphical HTML in HTML enabled email readers and webmail programs like Hotmail and Gmail, and a plaintext version for email readers that don't.
