Why banner ads are making a big comeback
Banner ads, those things that promised gold in the 90s are back with a vengeance and there is good reason why.
Late last year Google added image and animated flash ads as well as placement technology for their content network. While they don't call it banner advertising (probably due to the connotations) they have effectively paved the way for a full scale revival of the medium.
The new system provides much more flexibility and effectiveness than any of the old banner affiliate programs.
The latest banner ads exploit the contextual advertising offered and with the new tools available savvy marketers can create more effective ads.
With a proliferation of text based ads, studies show that more and more users are ignoring and blocking out these ads, while the old fashioned image and animated ads stand out and contrast well in comparison. The ads are typically more relevant and qualified and for once both the advertiser and the web user are happy. The resulting click through and conversion rates are higher, so advertisers get exponentially better value for money.
And webmasters are jumping to convert their ads to banners to capitalise on the increase revenue as advertisers are paying more to get the best spots. For tech sites there is BuySellAds.com while for advertisers, Open Ads (OpenX) and Google Ad Manager has now become available to premium advertisers to manage their creative.
I've had some incredible recent success with Google image and Flash ads.
With this banner revolution going on it is important to work with someone who knows the most effective techniques for banner advertising and can plan, design and implement an effective campaign for you. I can show you how. Then simply sit back and enjoy the increase in business !

I couldn't agree more with you Sean, I work for Brinkin Banners, and the concept of taking the smarts which have become standard with text ad's and putting it back into banner ads makes complete sense.
We have been pushing the bubble in terms of what can actually be done with banner ad's to increase the click-through rate in every way and have been producing great results, things like flash can involve the user with the product / service without them having to even leave their current site.
Cheers,
Ben
