Government e-Citizenship presentation for LGPRA
06 April 2006 - By Scott Davey
Last week I flew to Sydney to present my views on e-citizenship strategy and practice for Australian councils at this year's Local Government Public Relations Association. Over the past few years I have been working closely with various local governments on e-government strategy, and this has evolved into my current views that I call e-citizenship.
So what is e-citizenship? Simply put, it is being a citizen on the internet, interacting with governments, service providers, agencies, and communities. The focus is on the citizen, not the service. So it is not "e-government", "electronic service provision" nor "e-business", although it does involve those things. Planning for e-citizenship involves considering various life-events and the needs of the citizen in dealing with those events.
Feedback from the speech was great, including "...where we are heading - very exciting!", "interesting glimpse into the future" and "new & innovative".
I have attached my presentation slides for more information on e-citizenship.
